Prof. Dhayalan Velauthapillai, HRNCET & CBERC project Coordinator of Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), invited Dr. (Mrs.) Yohi Shivatharsiny, Senior lecturer, Department of Chemistry, University of Jaffna, to have a research stay at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) for up to two weeks in June 2019. She assisted the three MPhil research students from University of Jaffna with their research activities. In particular, she has been assisted Ms. Sivagowri Shanmugaratnam with the Gas Chromatography instrumentation and measurement for hydrogen evolution studies. She has also attended seminars and meetings arranged by the research group for Advanced Nano materials for Clean Energy Applications (ANCEA).

Three master students, namely, Mr. Arumugam Pirashanthan, Ms. Sivagowri Shanmugaratnam, and Ms. Kajana Thirunavukarasu from University of Jaffna, are now at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) under the student mobility program of NORPART project. They are working on their research project under Prof. Dhayalan Velauthapillai at HVL. Mr. Pirashanthan is carrying out research work with hybrid titanium dioxide /polymer and dye sensitized solar cells. Ms. Sivagowri is working on water splitting with metal chalcogenide embedded titanium dioxide materials. Ms. Kajana is working with heterostructured materials in the form of   nanocomposites for solar energy storage. They will also undergo training on different sophisticated equipment related to material characterization. Dr. (Mrs.) S. Yohi joined them in June 2019 to execute the GC measurements. All three students will be pursuing their research for six months from May to November, 2019.
